Counting is finalised for the new Eurobodalla Council Mayor with a very close finish between Mat Hatcher and Karyn Starmer based on the final distribution of preferences.
On the initial first preference votes the numbers indicated it could be anyone's race between Hatcher, Pollock and Starmer.

Sadly for those who only placed a "1" next to their preferred Mayor their voting powers came to an end however, for those astute enough to understand that it the outcome would be determined via their numbers "2 to 7" and the preference deals made by the mayoral candidates we witnessed the final tussle that saw Karyn Starmer overtake Rob Pollock due to preference deals and How to Vote guidance
It all came down to how you voted (if you numbered more than 1 that is). And then the preferences kicked in with the final result being the election of Mat Hatcher as the new Eurobodalla Mayor.
