CANCELLED Tuross Community Easter Fair ON Easter Monday

After due consideration and consultation, our Unit Commander has cancelled the Tuross Community Easter Fair for this Monday.

This is a very regrettable decision, as a great deal of work has already been done by our Geoff Clarke in gaining all the relevant permissions, and in securing a large field of participants. It is, of course disappointing for the stallholders and for the community.

However, the cancellation has been necessitated due to the condition of Evans Park. In Geoff’s words:

“The park was subjected to 320 mm of rain in March and 180 mm in April so far, and like most of Tuross, the soil does not have the capacity to drain such volumes. There are patches of stagnant water under the grass in the middle of the park, and a 3 metre wide puddle in one of the lower areas.

At present, the ground will not support motor vehicles, which are needed for bump-in and out, and pedestrian walkways are spongy, and likely to become very muddy during the day. There is a significant risk of visitor injury."

Furthermore, there is the likelihood of our unit incurring the cost of fixing any damage caused.

The Sunday morning market at the Tuross Club is still happening: that is on much higher ground. It’s a fund raiser for the local bowling club, so you might like to consider checking it out.
