Bay Theatre Players first major production for 2021, The Drowsy Chaperone, will open to much excitement and anticipation on 9 April 2021, after more than 12 months of the Playhouse Theatre being closed! This musical comedy of the 1920’s, is full of mishap, mayhem and mistaken identities that will keep you laughing to the very end.
The Drowsy Chaperone follows a reclusive Broadway fanatic, known as The Man in The Chair, seeking to solve his “non-specific sadness” through listening to his favourite 1920’s Broadway musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. As he listens, his humble New York apartment is transformed into a 1920’s Broadway stage, where the characters come to life in front of our eyes.
The stage erupts into fantastic musical numbers and show-stopping dance routines, and a laugh a minute!

The Drowsy Chaperone, directed by Candy Burgess, will open on Friday 9 April 2021, for an 18-show season until Saturday 1 May 2021.
