And they're racing ... the Eurobodalla election count continues

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

Welcome to Monday Dec 6th where the counting continues to see who will become the next Mayor and councillors for Eurobodalla Shire

as at 9:28am the following counts have been for the Mayoral position:

Given that these only represent 28.2% of the total possible votes it is early days still.

If you wanted to project the figures to a final winner you will need to look at where candidate preferences lie as there will be no clear winner across the line with more than 50% of all the votes. That is where preference deals click in.

Based on the numbers we have already you could play the game:

Round 1.

Who is the lowest? Gary Smith.

Gary gave his 2nd Preference to Tubby Harrison - this will now give Tubby a new total of 1180 + 189 = 1369

Round 2.

Who has the next lowest? Alison Worthington.

Alison gave the 2nd preference to David Grace - this will now give David a new total of 1219 + 1067 = 2286

Round 3.

Who has the next lowest? Karyn Starmerwith 1344

Karyn gave the 2nd preference to David Grace - this will now give David a new total of 2286 + 1344 = 3680

Round 4.

Who has the next lowest? Rob Pollock

Rob did not preference - his votes dissolve

(note: If he did give preferences he gave them to Tubby Harrison - this would have the effect of giving Tubby 2746 votes)

Tally so far - David Grace 3680 - Tubby Harrison 1369 (or 2746 depending on what Rob Pollock did) - Mat Hatcher 2120.

Road 5.

Who has the next lowest? 1st option - Tubby Harrison

Tubby gave the 2nd preference to Mat Hatcher - this will now give Mat a new total of 2120 + 1369 = 3489

This would then see a two horse race between David Grace on 3680 and Mat Hatcher on 3489 (keep in mind that this is only a projection based on the current 28.2% of votes counted)

BUT - what if Pollock did give his preferences to Tubby?

Then Mat would be the next lowest and he would give his preferences to.... Tubby

That would then see a two horse race between David Grace on 3680 and Tubby on 4858.
