FAR more Australian Flags than usual will be seen flying in Moruya and Broulee on and around Anzac Day this year.
Australian flags will be flown over the graves and ashes of deceased ex-Servicemen and Women at Moruya Cemetery and Broulee Crematorium from before until after Anzac Day. These flags will be placed at these sites at the request of relatives.
In addition to the flag initiative the Moruya Dawn service will begin with a Rod Slockee on didgeridoo and hear the ANZAC Ode spoken in the Dhurga language, delivered by Trish Ellis.
Moruya RSL Sub-branch president Kevin Setter advised that Australian Flags will be in place over the graves of deceased ex-servicemen and women at Moruya Cemetery, and at Broulee Crematorium.
"So far some families have been in touch and until now 48 flags will be flown at Moruya Cemetery and 37 at Broulee Crematorium,” he said at a recent Moruya RSL meeting.
Mr Setter said the flags would remain for Anzac Day and for some time afterwards, adding that Moruya High School was involved in the project and would also be marching with flags
Times for Moruya are:
5:45am: Dawn Service at the War Memorial, RSL Memorial Hall, 11 Page Street.
11:00am: March falls in at the rear of the Adelaide Hotel to the Memorial Hall, 11 Page Street. 11:30am: March to the RLS Memorial Hall followed by ANZAC Commemoration Service and Wreath Laying.
12:30pm Luncheon for Ex-service men and women and invited guests in the Memorial Hall.
