Today's Australia Day ceremony began at 10am at Russ Martin Park with the raising of the flag and, much to the delight of onlookers, the firing of a cannon who then sang a rousing rendition of the national anthem to then recite an affirmation of what it is to be Australian.
As has become an annual tradition there was also a traditional horse shoe toss, a pet parade, and a ‘best-decorated bike’ competition.
Moruya Lions & Rotary club, presented Jaylah Hancock-Cameron today with Moruya & District AUSTRALIA DAY JUNIOR CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD. Last years recipient Annabelle Smith, who is away on exchange for 12 months in Germany was unable to present Jaylah today so her brother Harry stepped up and filled his big sisters shoes.

Above: Limitless Coach Andae Kalemusic made the trip south to be at the award. Andea has been instrumental in bringing the Broulee teenager to the world athletic stage that now sees Jaylah as the fastest female under 18 in the 1500m in the world.
