Prime Minister Scott Morrison has recalled his Cabinet for an urgent meeting today to discuss the surprising news overnight from Jerusalem that Israel intends to recognise North Canberra as the official and sole capital of Australia.
A spokesperson for Prime Minister Netanyahu has announced that the Israel Yarralumla Embassy will be relocated in the new year to vacant land at Upper Downer in Canberra’s north.
Mr Morrison has quickly condemned the move saying that, “Although Israel has been a deep and intimate friend of Australia for many years, it must be understood that there is no division between the north and south of our great city. Canberra is one whole, united. Our control over Canberra is eternal. Our sovereignty will not be partitioned nor undermined.”
