Colourful artist, colourful art - Steve Fox's retrospective

A kaleidoscopic life is reflected in the whirling landscapes and sensitive pen and ink diary sketches of Broulee artist Steve Fox’’s vibrant retrospective exhibition in Moruya Books this month.

Some of the threads in his life's rich tapestry were woven through hippie living in Darwin in the late 60's, coordinating Aboriginal arts and craft in NE Arnhemland, running workshops for prison inmates, and directing the Maruku Arts Centre at Uluru for the Mutitjulu community.

His love of art and natural talent were nurtured at the SA School of Art (thanks to the support of his wife Lil) and where he was awarded the H Gill Memorial Medal for highest honours in 1978.

Given an opening, Steve readily shares his colourful experiences in a continuous stream, even flood, of engaging and colourful stories. Steve is on hand at Moruya Books each Saturday morning until 4 August to share his art and yarns.
