11.3kgs of cannibis discovered after off road pursuit

Bega Highway Patrol were conducting mobile speed enforcement on the Princes Hwy near Quaama when they checked a white Toyota travelling at 110kmh.

Police turned to speak to the driver who then sped off. Police attempted to catch up and a pursuit was initiated. The driver then performed a U-turn and drove back towards the HWP vehicle waving a knife.

The pursuit continued and reached speeds of 160kmh and 130kmh in a 50 zone. It then continued onto a dirt road where it was terminated as the HWP lost sight due to dust. The dirt road had one entry and exit so Police apprehended the driver further along the dirt road. Good work by Narooma Police at the other end.

The late 30's male from Cobargo was arrested. Over 11.3kgs of Cannibis packed in kegs, money and the knife were recovered. He was charged with numerous offences.

Update - driver bail refused to the Batemans Bay Local Court 9 July.

If only he was obeying the speed limit...
