Australian Plant Society South East NSW Group Monthly Meeting May 5th
Every month the Australian Plant Society South East NSW Group meets to share their passion
for learning about, growing and conserving Australian native plants and their habitats.
The nextmeeting of the group is on Saturday 5th May and we will be visiting the gardens of Members
Anne Phillips and Michael Shiel. The house garden of Anne and Michael is about 20 years old,
first planted with favourite trees, including a red cedar, Toona ciliata and a coachwood,
Ceratopetalum apetalum. Then subsequent planting was for privacy and attracting birds. There
are also some experimental species from other areas of Australia.
The Garden is situated close to Murramarang National Park and Durras Lake. After viewing the
garden the group will have lunch at the Lake and take a walk in the National Park observing the
local plant species.
The meeting will commence at 10:30am at the home of Anne and Michael. For details of this
meeting see the activities page on the APS website. Anyone is welcome to come along.

Other meetings that have taken place this year included talks on grasses, birds in the garden and
we visited a garden built on granite in the west of Moruya.
