Red Door Moruya: A place of inclusive hospitality of the heart and table
Every Tuesday the Red Door kitchen cooks up a storm for lunch. Open to all, the fresh, house cooked meals are offered at no cost or by donation if possible.
The Red Door has been serving lunch weekly for 6 years and has become a place of true social inclusion with a warm and open-hearted spirit greeting all who come. When asking some of the people who come regularly for lunch what they find a common answer is, “very good meal, very good people (volunteers), generous, friendly’. One person said, “it’s amazing what they can do with what they have”.
The café is kept going by a great bunch of volunteers from around the community. They are the heart and soul of the service.
One of those volunteers, Ruth, say’s she loves it because of “the fun of preparing it together and then sharing it together in friendship.”
Some of those who come for lunch are also part of The Slightly Bent’ choir who sing in the hall from 10.30 – 11.30am.
The lunches, which consist of a main course and a dessert, are served every Tuesday from 12.00 noon to 1.30 pm.
Some of the volunteers are also gardeners and the kitchen is supplemented by fresh ingredients grown on site and donated by others. Everyone is welcome.
The Red Door is the hall between St John’s Anglican Church and the Mechanics Institute off Page St in Moruya (St John’s Way).

On Sat. May 5th 8am – 1pm, there will be a car boot sale to raise money to support the café on corner of Campbell & Page St Moruya. Bring your car boot, no bookings required, or just come along to snag a sausage & a bargain.
