Welcome to the new Narooma News team

Many in the Narooma area are beginning to learn that Stan Gorton, the much loved editor of the Narooma News has moved to Kangaroo Island to edit The Islander newspaper.

We all knew Stan was terrific but how terrific is now revealed that he is replaced by a team of three.

Back to the Narooma News comes Jeanne Medlicott who many will remember as she worked with Stan for 12 years at the Narooma News. Jeanne has a solid knowledge of the area and will no doubt ensure the Narooma region is well covered.

Joining Jeanne will be Duncan McLaughlin. Duncan has been working with the Bay Post and many will remember Duncan stepping in when Stan took his well deserved holidays. Duncan also has a love of the region and a great eye for community news. Duncan also has a passion for horses, farm life and environment that are certain to find their way into the paper's pages.

Joining the tam is Joel Erikson on the sports desk. Though his passion is for league and Aussie Rules he has already been worded up that there has to be fish on the news menu. Lots of fish.

It is terrific to see this team assembled as the Narooma News plays a vital role in the fabric of the Narooma Region

The weekly paper has long served the town and region. While its circulation is small its website and social media outlets enjoy solid support. Unlike its sister newspaper, the Bay Post, the Narooma News still remains free to read online and not placed behind a paywall

We encourage you to LIKE their Facebook page, visit their website and buy their weekly edition as it is of vital importance to a community that they have a local newspaper and that the history of the paper, first stated in 1986 continues.

You can find the team in their office on the highway just up from Caseys Cafe - call in and say hello
