Countdown To The National Open Pastel Exhibition

Finalist have been selected and 48 works will await judging in this our 3 rd bi-annual pastel open exhibition.
 

 
Winners of all categories and Best in Show and Best Member painting will be announced at the opening
 

 
ceremony on Tuesday 17th April, 2018 commencing at 5.30pm.
 

 

 
Mayor Liz Innes and Andrew Constance MP will officially open and award the two top awards. The exhibition runs from 18 th until 27 th April with opening hours 10am – 4pm daily and is being held at the Batemans Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, Malua Bay.
 

 

 
Grace Paleg South Coast Pastel Society member, finalist, master pastellist and fellow of the Australian
 

 
Guild of Realist artists has won over 200 art awards to date. After studying graphic design and oils she
 

 
changed to pastel medium in 1988. She opened her fine art studio in Surf Beach in 1996 where she
 

 
continues to teach local students and groups bringing 50 years experience to those participating in her
 

 
workshops.
 

 

 
This golden opportunity to join Grace in her workshop “Landscape Impossible” on Thursday 26 th April at 40
 

 
Tasman Street Surf Beach where you will learn to create ‘’the landscape you’ve’ dreamt about’ where
 

 
colour, shape, light and glow will be taught thus capturing that impossible landscape. The cost for non-
 

 
members is $80 and members $70.

We also remind interested persons that the spots for Louise Corke workshops are still available where you
 

 
can learn the art of keeping it simple. Offered as two separate days on 17th & 18 th April. Day 1 Figures in
 

 
Natural Poses made simple and Day 2 Art of Simplication will teach participants how to approach their
 

 
work in a different manner. Registration should be made to Lyn or email and costs $75 members and $90
 

 
non members .
 

 

 
As the school holidays are not too far away and parents are seeking an alternative activity for their
 

 
children or grandchildren why not bring them along to join other children at our free “Kids Pavement”
 

 
painting morning on Monday 23 rd April 10am-12 noon where fun is the order of the morning. Children and
 

 
young at heart can join but those under age 6 should be accompanied by an adult and all children are
 

 
encouraged to wear older clothes.
 

 

 
Not only will we ask our visitors to vote for their favourite art work, votes tallied at the end of the
 

 
exhibition for the Peoples Choice award but on offer is 3 amazing prizes in our raffle which will be drawn at
 

 
the end of the exhibition.
