REGIONAL SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE FUND
New guidelines for this NSW Government Fund have been posted on the Office of Sports website.
These continue to seek submissions for proposals for regional sport hubs and regionally significant sport facilities.
But the maximum grant size is now capped at $10m and a minimum financial co-contribution of 25% of the total grant amount is required.
Detailed applications or business cases from previous applicants opting to proceed to the next stage are due by 4 May.
Detail applications or business cases are due by end August.
There is no indication of the date of the announcement of successful applicants.
Listed amongst the projects explicitly excluded from funding are-
“for smaller scale facilities (such as single-sport venues that do not meet the standards required to host regional, state or national level competitions, events and/or training; and community swimming pools or aquatic facilities not part of a regional sport hub that are funded by local government.’
So where does this leave the council’s application for $28.3m from this fund?
More importantly, where does it leave the council’s response to the community’s strong demand for an indoor 50m sports standard public pool and hydrotherapy facilities?
