Dear Editor,
Being a retired NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Ranger I would certainly meet the Federal National MP George Christensen’s recent ‘Dirty Harry’ definition of ‘greenie’, as would all serving Rangers in Australia and around the world.

The fact that a federal (or any politician) could make such a statement while using a firearm, delete it from Face Book then rewrite it as a joke says a lot about Mr. Christensen’s character, not to mention the National Party generally.
It is a particularly offensive and callous statement when one considers the tragic death of Office of Environment and Heritage conservation officer, Glenn Turner who was shot to death in 2014 by a farmer while protecting the NSW environment.
I cannot imagine the impact Christensen’s statement would have on Mr Turner’s wife and family.
The fact that Mr Christensen could also make the ‘Greenie’ statement in the aftermath of the recent shooting massacre of 17 students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida USA last week beggars belief and justifies the standing down of this so-called politician.
