The RMS has now relocated the two red and black ball hazard maker buoys to the rock protrusions in the Tuross River mouth. Normally weighted down by two train wheels these ones are weighted down with three wheels with a hope that it will keep them in place.
NEW 4 knot speed zone for Tuross Lake
Locals might also have noticed a new red hazard marker buoy warning of the sandspit on the eastern edge of Horse Island opposite the boat shed near the OLD 8 knot speed sign.
There are also new YELLOW buoys opposite the Tuross boatsheds that identify the NEW 4 knot (4 knots - about 7km/h or a fast walking speed) zone.
Following countless complaints and the danger of boats going too fast in this area of the lake the new speed zone IS NOW in operation
