ReVive Art Prize People’s Choice - Julie Brennan

The 2017 ReVive Art Prize People’s Choice Award has gone to Moruya’s Julie Brennan for her work ‘Threatened Species’

Julie’s artwork was constructed from recycled corkscrews, recycled aluminium baking trays and felt.

The idea for the work came from seeing a box of corkscrews in a second-hand stall.

“They looked like birds,” Julie said, “and as I began working with them I realised they were a threatened species because of the invasion of screw caps and disappearance of corks.”

The week-long ReVive Art Prize exhibition has become a biennial event in the alternate year of the prestigious Basil Sellers Art Prize.

Held to coincide with National Recycling Week, all the works in the exhibition were constructed from 80 per cent recycled materials.
