Eurobodalla 350.org has had a great response at our two showings in Moruya. On Friday night at St Mary's Performing Arts Hall over 100 people came and they thought the film was excellent.
“Guarding the Galilee” is directed by Nell Schofield and stars Michael Caton and shows the action people are taking in Queensland and across Australia to stop this threat to the Great Barrier Reef.
Everyone was very pleased that Westpac has responded to the strong community campaign by ruling out any funding for the giant Adani coal mine.
They were angry that the Commonwealth Bank assisted Adani to get the water licence. People are pledging to move their accounts to other banks unless the Commonwealth stops funding Adani.
We have had four offers to show the film at smaller towns in addition to the Batemans Bay and Narooma Kinema screenings.
The second Moruya screening at St John's Anglican Church hall had 20 people watch the film and another good response with two more possible screenings.
The film is an excellent organising tool and people are writing letters to politicians and our local MP.
Together with our stall at the Narooma Oyster Festival we also signed up 40 new people to our local climate action group.
