In their first concert series for 2017, the musicians of string trio Three Piece Suite will be in a nostalgic mood, looking back over four years of performances in Moruya to choose a program of their own and audience favourites.

Join Rachel Westwood, violin, Valmai Coggins, viola and Deborah Coogan, cello, to celebrate some musical memories and the release of their first CD, Short and Sweet, at St John's Moruya on the 26th February at 4pm.

To start, the trio have selected some of the English Country Dances by Playford, ranging from wistfully elegant to rustically energetic and they have also chosen their favourite movements from Bach's Goldberg Variations.

While they have played many pieces by Haydn over the years, the charming and sunny G major Trio op. 55 no.1 has been a particular favourite with audiences.

Old will be new when Divertissement by van der Struik, the first piece written specifically for the group, will be given its first outing in a new revision. Shorter gems by Schubert, Kreisler, Joplin and others will provide a variety of popular styles – as usual expect anything from lieder to tango! All in all, revisiting the past will be the perfect way to start the musical year!

The musicians hope you can join them and look forward to meeting you at the post-concert afternoon tea in the hall. You can buy tickets at the door (cash only) or online, $20 for adults, $5 for children.
