Operation Boatsafe: ‘Know the rules’ will be underway from Nov 26 – Dec 4.
The ‘Know the rules’ safety campaign will see our Boating Education Officers (BEO) and Boating Safety Officers (BSO) out in force across NSW waterways over the next week or so.
You can take this opportunity to refresh your knowledge and make sure you’re across any of the recent regulation changes that may affect your time on the water.
The most significant changes include:
Reforms to boat driver licensing, including streamlining licence classes and application requirements,
simplifying the fee structure and the introduction of a 10-year boat licence
New lifejacket standards and simplified requirements for wearing lifejackets
Vessels no longer need to display a registration label or trade plate
Changes to streamline the administration of aquatic licences
Changes to some penalty levels and disqualification periods.
