Have you been targeted by invoice scammers?
Scammers are not selective in who they target, they even target the AFP.
Here’s an invoice the Australian Federal Police received. As you can see these invoices are very convincing, so be sure to check the finer details.
If your alarm bells ring, don’t pay it!
Here are some sketchy things we questioned:
1. The organisation where the invoice was sent from. Despite the realistic looking logo, we’ve never heard of the World Organization for Trademarks.
2. The bank details. Warning signs went off when we were asked to transfer money to a bank in Hungary.
Protect yourself and your business by checking all details on an invoice.
